Packing Boxes - Question

I need to put some things in storage and I was wondering if there's anything that would discourage mice. Last time we had stuff stored they got into everything. If I lined the boxes with plastic grocery bags would it help?

A friend of mine has the same problem with things in their

attic. They are in the middle of soybean fields. She gets suitcases

at the thrift store for just a dollar or 2 and uses those as storage

boxes. She also uses plastic boxes with lids, and tapes around the

    lid opening with duct tape.

I hadn't thought about this. I'll try it.

    Default Packing Boxes - Question

Is there anything that will discourage mice? Yes, mouse poison.
Where we live between an 8 acre field and 15 acres of woods, they would take over if we did not put out bait ( poison). It is a heck of a lot cheaper to buy bait then to replace damaged goods. Unfortunately I know this first hand.

If you buy poison make sure that you use d-conso that they won't stink when they die. I learned that the hard way!! I used Tomcat (sold at Walmart) & had a mouse die in a drawer in my computer desk, YUCK!!! I hate mice more than anything but I do have the best mouser cat, she brings us present all the time.

    Default Packing Boxes - Question

I'm having good luck with plastic tubs. And in some of them I put moth

balls but not all. We have opossums and raccoons and last year

something chewed our freezer cord and a fan cord in half! They got into

the boxes and destroyed Christmas decorations but left the tubs alone.

If you belong to a freecycle site, you might ask for the tubs or any

hard suitcases or trunks. A friend of mine got quite a few tubs that

way. Mice will chew thru cardboard, paper and plastic bags, even heavy

plastic bags. I think moth balls help but they need to be replaced

every few months and I'd hate to count on them keeping the mice out of

    cardboard. KarenMO

    Default Packing Boxes - Question

    Hi,

We had problems with mice getting into our RV when we weren't using

it. Someone told me to put Bounce brand fabric softener sheets in

there so I put a bunch of them around inside. We have not had the

problem since, so I am guessing it works.

    Default Packing Boxes - Question

Carmellyn, do you use Bounce scented or unscented? We use unscented if we do

use the dryer for clothes so I'm wondering if I have to buy the scented ones

to use in the RV??? Which ones do you use in your RV? Thanks ~ Rustey in DE
