Default Cheapest (and safest) Toilet Bowl Cleaner

The cheapest (and safest if you have pets) toilet bowl cleaner on the planet is ...

    UNSWEETENED BLACK CHERRY KOOL AID.

Sure you can use whatever flavor you want, but remember the darkest colors will have the longest scent lingering....Black cherry is the best!

at 10 cents a pack, it doesn't get any better than that!

    ~*~

flush your toilet -- make sure there are no floaties in there...

then pour 1 packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid around the bowl -- it will turn bright red around the side of the bowl and let sit for 10 minutes...

after 10 minutes, scrub the bowl with your brush and flush

wherever you see the red stain, that's where you didn't scrub...so scrub that off and flush until the water is clear.

Kool-Aid will take off the calcium, lime and rust deposits in your toilet bowl and then it will shine like new...the scent will last about 30 minutes.

one word of caution -- make sure that you are not expecting company to interrupt you while you are cleaning the toilet ... if you are interrupted and they enter the bathroom before you have had time to clean the bowl out, they will think you murdered someone (or had one of those feminine days)....LOL

I have heard of using baking soda and vinegar before, I have never heard of using Kool-Aid. I wonder about a product that will clean a toilet sparkling clean. I am really thankful my kids are not big Kool-Aid drinkers.

It's safe to use because it won't kill any animals (or make them sick) if you have furbabies that like to drink from the toilet...

and I've used Kool Aid for YEARS...

Kool Aid is like the fluoride they put on kids teeth and then tell them to brush -- everywhere you see the fluoride is where they didn't brush --it's the same concept.

I remember the pink tablets you had to chew. mom would never let us chew them, she was afraid they would hurt us.

i use the mirror on an old compact so I can see under the rim. then I take the brush and scrub. I have an odd shaped one that fits under the rim. keep dipping it in the water every now and then.

At first, I thought you were going to say to put it in the tank! I think I'll try that on April fools day. LOL. Thanks for the tip!

id say for under the rim, get pack wet a little and put it on like a paste. tang and cocacola are other alternatives too.

I like your koolaid tip. Will try it. As for pets drinking out of bowl, in our house the lid stays shut. When you flush toilet water becomes airborne. The thought of that landing on my toothbrush is rather unappealing.

I am laughing so hard! And yet this is scary. Kids drink this stuff!! WOW! I will be trying this. I currently use baking soda, but hey, I'll try anything once. This reminds me of my dad, who owned a gas station way back when gas stations did repairs etc. He always kept a case of coca cola on hand... to remove rust! And he would never drink water.... his answer, "You ever see what water does to pipes?" Yes, he was misinformed/misguided, but the Coca Cola worked on rust!!!! My kids do not get soda in this house... nor Cool Aide actually. Water is the drink available here... period.

I'd love to try this and think it will be a lot safer all the way around. Our house is old and so is the stool. I do wonder if it will stain and not be removed on some places no matter the elbow grease. I have a tub that refuses to shine and sparkle anymore even when cleaned with about everything I can think of.
    Thanks for this Cynthia
