Default Embarresing problem

About a month ago,I had a very hard time moving my bowels,no matter

how much I strained nothing would pass, there was alot of blood and

alot of pain from allt he straining, well it happened again the day

before yesterday, but this time there was alot of pain right above my

belly button and it did not go away! I also have bad acid reflux and

htought maybe it goes hand and hand, but am not sure. We'll I decided

to go to the low income clinic here, and the doctor told me because

you came here I really dont think you want to go thru all the testing

because of how much they are and I know you can't afford them,so I'm

going to see if its consipation and treat you for that and see if it

gets better instead of getting worse, but if it does get worse you

will have to get tested weather you can afford it or not! He told me

I also gained 10 pounds or so I was 230 and now I weigh 248. That

made me depressed,he told me that I needed to loose the weight,he

said most of my problems can be weight related,he also told me I

needed to go on a heartburn/acid reflux diet, but he didn't write the

diet down for me so i didn't know if that would help me with my

weight or just my heartburn situation. He told me to eats lots of

things with fiber, and to cut spicy foods and cheeses but mainly eat

more veggies and lots of fruits and drink alot! I for one love spicy

foods, onions, peppers, garlic, lemonade and cheese. I dont know what to

do or how to begin what he is suggestioning. It made me feel awful

    that I gained 10 pounds,I don't excercise,barely get out of the house

unless it is to go swimming with my son. I don't even know what

triggers my heartburn,or making me consipated. I'm such a mess right

now,he said he wants to see me in 3 months to see if I improved. What

can I do to just start? I cant be out in the heat else my asthma send

me to the hospital. So Im kind of stuck. What do you all suggest? He

prescribed Nexium, but i thought there was a warning/recall for that

sometime ago. What do you all suggest?

Just to let you know, inactivity can also cause constipation. Get up

and walk. Even if it is inside the house, walking is good. I don't

have any idea of the layout of your house, but here's some

ideas: From the front door to the back. Just keep going for so many

"laps" or so many minutes. If you start feeling uncomfortable, stop,

write down the time or laps, whichever. Next day, stop at that same

time or laps. After a few days, see if you can add a lap or a couple

of minutes. Believe it or not, a friend of mine that weighed over

500 pounds lost weight this way. He said it sure was an

encouragement when their housekeeper started in Woohoo, look at you

go! when he tried without his canes. It's been a struggle, but he's

    down to about 400 pounds.

Go on-line and search for the diets you need. webmd is a very good

place for such things. You can also look up conditions and learn a

    lot about them.

Yes, drink a lot of water. I work in a hot job, and if I get

dehydrated it causes constipation. One easy way to tell if you are

drinking enough liquids is to pull up just a tiny fold of skin on the

back of your hand. If it goes back to normal immediately when

released, you are ok. If it takes a second or 2, drink some water.

My doc had me get Miralax, it's less than $10 at Walgreens. It works like a charm for the constipation. I take several medications that constipation is a side effect and this will clean you out!

Ann, where in AR do you live? I live in Conway. didn't know anyone was so close to me. lol

His diet should help both your weight and your constipation. There are OTC stool softeners for when you're "stuck" and different inexpensive fiber sources too. Increasing your veggies is one of the best ways to increase your fiber plus get all the trace minerals that will help overall health, too. Do a google search on high-fiber recipes or high-fiber diet and try some of them out. Try a good fiber-based cereal for breakfast with fruit. (Don't skip breakfast!) And don't set yourself up for failure by trying to cut all spicy food or cheese but try to limit them to once a day or twice a week or just a couple times less per week than you eat them now. Drink water instead of juices or sweet sodas and sugar loaded beverages.

And don't make huge plans to exercise if you know you can't keep it up. Just start small - like walking up and down the hall 10 times during the day. Or up and down a flight of stairs 3 times or something that you can handle. Then each week, increase it by one rep. Even parking a row further from a store entrance gives you more exercise.

Small changes will make a big difference in the long run.

Hi,I take Nexium and had always had stomach problems.I have really bad acid reflux and heartburn. I've noticed when I don't eat greasy foods I don't get it as much.Basically,I had to change my eating habits.I don't really eat greasy food maybe one or two bites that's it if I eat more I get reflux bad. It's hard at first and some days are harder than others, craving wise(hints the one or two bites). They say not to eat fried foods would be fries, fried chicken, etc.,spicy foods anything with hot sauce, chili, peppers, bell peppers(I still eat them every now and then),I also heard tomato based like ketchup, sauces and citrus, pickles things like that.I would goggle acid reflux or heartburn it will probably lead to a site
where it could list the foods to avoid.I hope this helps.

Nexium Is working fine for me And the other problem .... cherrio's

work for me .. the straining part is not good can blow out fine blood

    vessels in that area.

I spent a lot of cash for a colon cleanse and nothing happened

cherrios did the job and high in fiber, low fat and good.

Go to a naturalpath and find out what you are a alergic to food

wise,it doesn't cost that much maybe $75-80 and will find out what

kinds of foods you should not be eating, belive me it helps.

Sleep with your head higher ,I use three big pillows and almost sit

up most nights, you dont want that acid comeing back up in the middle

of a deep sleep you wont like it and think you are dieing,It happens

to me if I eat late at nite which is a no no.

    good luck

Eat food that "remembers where it came from" instead of processed foods. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies and whole grains. No white flour products. Get some Allbran cereal. you should see a huge difference. There is an herbal formual called LB Formula. It is made for consitpation. Getting rid of all that junk in your colon will also cause you to lose weight.

    Good luck!
