    Default gardening temp

the soil tempature is below normal. it is cold and rainy in Illinois. the soil has to warm up about another 20 degrees for seeds to sprout

Where in Illinois are you? I am in Illinois and we have snow drifts about 5 feet high in places on our gardens. Thanks; Virginia

I am in Indiana, it is going to be at least another month before we can even think about planting outside. we still have snow on the ground from the big snow fall on Monday.

I have lived in Indiana all my life and grew up thinking gardens cant be planted before Mothers day. anyone else follow this rule?
