Default New here! Question about taking a job for the $ or because you like

I have 2 potential clients (I do daycare) and both have great kids and

I felt really good about both set of parents etc. However, family #1

really has more of what I am looking for in terms of days, hours, age

of child and flexibility. On the other hand, family #2 would be

paying me DOUBLE what family #1 would based on their needs.

The difference in $ is that family #2 would basically be paying my

mortgage. But I would have less alone time with my own children. I

    am so torn!

    What would you do?

Could you manage on income from family 1?? If so I would go that route as your

own kids are only young once.

Been there, done that! In terms of sanity, go for the better hours. No

amount of money will keep you from missing your family and you'll begin

to resent your employers, your job and even the kids you're caring for

even though you KNOW it isn't their fault.

On another note...look for Catholic Charities in your area (don't have

to be Catholic) and they can set you up with day care in your own home.

This way,. you're there for your own kids which is nice...especially if

they're younger and one gets sick. No missed work!

If you are making less money, but are happier doing the job, you will more than likely stick with it and keep it. I also do daycare myself. I would take the less $$ and more time with my kids. As someone said your kids are young only once and we only get 1 chance with them. Just my opinion. Dee
