I think that's been going around lately. lol Mine did too and I also need XP so that I can get it up and running again. I did check it out to see how much it would cost and it's 200.00 or close too it everywhere I looked. I don't have that kind of money but need my computer back.

    Thanks

Go to www.freecycle.com and see if there's a group in your area. You

post a 'wanted' message and if there's one available, someone will e

mail you to let you know. Also, try www.craigslist.com in the 'free'

category. It's mostly offers, but it's ok to post a 'want'.

Your computer should have come with a reinstall disk for it's operating system.

Linux is free. The most user friendly LinuxDistro is Ubuntu you can get it at http://www.ubuntu.com

If you are looking for a free Operating System I would use Ubuntu Linux. It is free and has and has what I consider to be an easy to use interface. There is also a lot of free online web support from the community. Hope this helps. -Eden

Vista is a good OS as long as you have the proper hardware. Spyware is something you don't want now if you are talking about spyware protection I use Spybot S&D and its compatible with Vista.

I have Vista. I have my preference of a different

spyware/virus/hacker protection than what comes with Vista. I just

uninstalled Norton <which came with the system> once it expired,

turned off the protection with Vista, and installed my preferred

protection. This is something I did purchase, and I have really

preferred it for my computers. I get Vista's warnings that XXXXXXX

is turned off, do you want to start it now? and I click "no". This

happens every time I start the computer, and it's not a hassle in my

opinion. So, just turn off the stuff that Vista does and the

    compatible problem should be solved.

To do this, go to control panel, then security center. Turn off what

you don't need since you are having problems.
