    Default MYO Expresso

    Hi, all!

I am not a coffee drinker, but I have raised some. ) I love the

thought of making our own Frappuccinos at home, but I have a question.

Most of the recipes call for expresso. OK--I bought dear daughter an

expresso machine for Christmas which has sat--unused--because we don't

have "expresso" beans. Is that right? I thought expresso was just

strong coffee--like brewed with twice the coffee or something. Surely

they don't grow regular coffee bushes and expresso bushes?! Is there

an aficionado out there who can set me straight?

    Thanks!

    BK

    Hope this helps!

Espresso coffee is a small 1 to 2 oz. shot of pressure-brewed coffee using

between 6.5 and 7.5 grams (about 1 Tablespoon) of finely ground coffee.

Brewing takes about 25 to 30 seconds. Properly brewed, an espresso will

feature a layer of rich dark golden cream, called crema on the surface. This

crema is one indictor of a quality espresso.
