I always used olive oil and a shower cap. Then washed their hair
with just dish soap and pulled out the dead bugs and nits. I always
just put the oil in their hair, put a shower cap over it and let
them sleep in it at night. Then worked on it the next morning. It
was much easier and everything was dead! I did all their coats,
hats, bed, and stuffed animals. I used the dryer for stuff that
couldn't be washed. 20 mins on high heat should kill anything there.
    Hope it helps!

I remember seeing this, an passed it on to you from...

    tiffany <moultons5girlz@yahoo.com

I've never tried it, but I bet you can email her, and she'll help you out...she posted this back in January and for some reason, I kept it...just in case..LOL

    good luck

I used white vinegar and the comb that you get with the lice shampoo and a bright light to see where you are combing, it takes a while but the only thing that worked for my 2 girls that had it and couldn't get rid of it!! Good luck and lots of Patience to you... Faith

The shampoos and cleaners are okay but the
ONLY way to get rid of them is to remove every single egg from the host.
Leaving just one will cause a re-infestation. You can also teach your children
how to avoid them (not sharing hairbrushes or hats, no head to head touching –
really big with girls; etc) I know how horrible this is – my daughter
got them in kindergarten so bad she missed an entire week of school!! I
literally spent hours each day going through her hair making sure I got them
all. Of course, she has the thickest and curliest hair of anyone I’ve
ever met! She is in 3rd grade now and hasn’t gotten them
again; I still check her hair once a week routinely and if I ever see her itch I
check then, too <font size="2" color="navy" face="Wingdings">10.0pt;font-family:Wingdings;color:navy;">J And I ask often if anyone has been out with them.

    Good luck!

    I need to
get ride of them and keep them gone. Thanks!

!st thing You need to do is wash all the bed linens and bag up all the stuffed animals. Keep them bagged for at least a week. As for the kids I have used Mayonnaise. Not miracle whip but the regular maynosse. Put it on the kids hair and cover it with a plastic bag. I let my kids sleep in it over night but a few hours will help. When You go to wash it out Use Dawn dish washing liquid. It will get the grease out from the mayonnaise.. You will still need to comb threw it with a nit comb and pick out the dead nits but i8t does work. I would do this for a couple of weeks to make sure You have them all gone.

yes it does work i used it on my girls cause their

school sent them home every other day when they were

in prek, when i used it their hair was a bit oily but

no lice, and their teachers got mad cause their hair

was now oily. told me to stop using mayo weekly. well

they started gettying sent bk home. so i did viniger

and mineral oil, however i liked the mayo better. i

bought the cheap mayo from aldi for less than 2.00 may

have been 1.00. gl and remember spray ur cars also and

booster seats. and if u have girls keep their hair up

at school this also helps. this is what the school

    nurse has told me.

We have such a problem with this! About a month ago my 9 yo told me that the girl that sits next to her has lice! grrr! I told her to not touch or wear the friends jacket, hat, hair stuff. Naturally, a week and a half ago she came home from school with a different hairstyle! HELLO? How did you get a different hairstyle? I ask. Oh, she was doing hair with her friends at school. NO! I think it should be socially acceptable to shave the girls head.

As I read all these remedies for head lice I see an important thing missing from each post!!

YOU MUST...Wash all bedding...Vacuum all areas...and Stuffed animals must be put in plastic bags and into a Freezer or Just throw them in HOT dryer...You can treat the source...however if you don't treat the areas...they will keep coming back again and again!!!

Also...another tip...If you have a HOT Flat Iron for hair...Run this through the hair from root to end...this will kill any nits and help control re-infestation...you must still comb out the hair with a small lice comb...the key it to not only get rid of the bugs...but their eggs!!!

You must be diligent in your efforts or you will never rid yourself of these horrid little creatures!

    Best of luck to you!

If you go to Walmart they have straight tea tree oil for about 5$ you need to add it to the shampoo.I have used the oil straight from the bottle. You need to leave either the oil or shampoo on for at least 15 minutes. My granddaughter has waist length hair. I think the last time we used from the bottle it took 3 bottles. The oil in the shampoo is not strong enough to have it work.Wash everything if you can't wash it put it in a plastic bag for two weeks. Most dollar stores around here carry the shampoo and I just add about a half bottle of the oil. When I couldn't find the shampoo I put a whole bottle in baby shampoo. Alcohol will also work but it is bad for the hair if you have to use it to many times.
