    Ribbon Gastric ByPass surgery

Because I require high-protein, low carb meals, I plan my weekly menu with my local Publix weekly ad. Some tips, though, on other savings options. My local Costco has begun selling combo packs of lean (93/7) ground turkey at .49/pound. I cook the turkey with onion, chopped peppers, and sometimes other diced veggies, freeze in approximately one-pound packages, and have them ready for chili, tacos, or other options. Frozen cooked ground meats are much faster to prepare than having to defrost/thaw uncooked. I also compare costs on fish and seafood from the seafood department with the frozen options. I am sometimes surprised at which is the better buy.

Getting high protein AND low carb can be tricky. It sounds like you have a handle on it though.

Is a person supposed to stay on a high protein and low carb diet after having a gastric bypass done?
I've got a couple of girlfriends that have had that done, but eat a normal diet with much smaller portions.
Makes me wonder if medical issues can arise from that?

What a good idea! I will give that a try. My husband and I have had gastric bypass surgery and struggle at times as to what to eat. He is having a much more difficult time adjusting. One thing that has really worked for him is BariWise oatmeal ( from Bariatic Choice--an on-line catalog). Would love to learn how to make that basic product myself but am just not a cook nor am I creative in the kitchen.

Yes, you are suppose to stay on a high protein diet. You must get at least 60 grams a day. At least that is what our doctor told us.
