Default Kind of OT- Need advice on a craft

My kids are bored with most of their Christmas toys already... so in

effort to be thrifty, I am making them a felt board to hang on the wall

    and play with.

I already have tons of felt to cut into things to stick on the board,

wondering if anyone knows of a website with (free) patterns to make

    animals and fun shapes?

I also have no idea how to put the board up, since it is all nice

wooden walls up there, and I can not nail into them. Anyone know of a

product to glue velcro or maybe even glue the board to the wall that

    will not damage the wood?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

The quick release scotch brand hooks would work- you won't damage the walls with that- Try using coloring books or cookie cutters for easy bold figures- just trace and cut. Lisa G.

I have been doing felt boards over the last two weeks.I used flannel and staple gun to attach flannel to wood.I used colouring books, and some pictures from www.enchantedlearning.com I also used the google images search engine to get other picture.I did some where I printed and laminated and the glue sticked the felt on.I have not attached to the wall.I have used heavy duty Velcro in the past and it is terrible to get off the wall..My guys just use it on the table and I store like pieces in zip lock bags.I managed to get a number of felt shapes also at the dollar store. They were for scrap booking but the small amount of stick stuff came off and they were great.Lea

What are you making the board backing out of? If it's not too heavy, or thick,

you could use the larger 3-M Command hooks. Use four of them, two on the

bottom, upside down, to rest the board in, & two over the top edge to hold it in

place. The Command adhesive strip will come off of most surfaces without

damaging them, even after a few years!

I don't know of any websites, but check your computer fonts for Dingbats or Web

dings or something like that (I have a Mac. I don't know what the comparable

Windows font would be named). Lots of great shapes there! Choose a very large

font size & choose the outline style & print them off.
