What kind of vinegar are you using? Red wine vinegar and olive oil with some sugar can make a vinaigrette. Balsamic vinegar is good with strawberries. My grandfather used to soak raw peeled potato slices in white vinegar. He loved to eat it. I get cravings for sour foods too. Do you like pickles? They can have some vinegar flavor. That's all I got. Good luck!

I have all kinds of Vinegar(I keep a stock of it) I do Like Pickles, olives and Peppers etc..But Trying to stay away from to much salt..I went to the doc and my Blood Pr. Was up some..scared the tar out of me..So I went out and Bought all the Flavors of Mrs. Dash...so whatever I make with the vinegar will have to be No salt or a little salt or Mrs Dash(sucks)

I read online that we can drink apple cider vinegar. It's supposed to be good for you. And you are right Mrs.Dash is not that great. I tried to find some recipes for you but all I could come up with was salad dressing.

Fish is great with malt vinegar so are french fries and you can bake those and even use sweet potato and limit the salt. Sweet and Sour pickles is sugar and vinger with cucumber slices some also call them refrigerator pickles. There are also recipes for pickled beets and pickled eggs which use vinegar. Hope some of this helps.

If you are craving vinegar try using it in soups. You can use vinegar to replace the acid that a lot of soups call for. You will have to adjust to your taste. 2 examples of soups with vinegar are a bean soup or a Chinese hot and sour soup.

Went digging through my old recipes and found grandma's Sauerbraten recipe. I tried to adjust it so anyone could use it because grandma didn't have any amounts listed. You can adjust by making more or less marinade according to the size of your roast and it also freezes well. When I freeze leftovers I add gravy to the bag to freeze without the sour cream.

    Sauerbraten

    2 lbs beef roast

    Marinade
    1 onion
    4 peppercorns
    2 cloves
    1 bay leaf
    1 - 1 1/2 cup vinegar
    2-3 cups water
    salt and pepper

    for gravy
sour cream (optional but does help make gravy creamy I also substitute plain greek yogurt instead of sour cream)
corn flour (or regular flour or cornstarch) and water
Maggi liquid seasoning (optional not always available and some don't like taste)

Wash and dry beef, place in large cook pot or bowl (Can also use 1-2 gallon freezer bag); chop onion and place all other ingredients in bowl to marinade (I make extra marinade and reserve it for cooking later)

Place in refrigerator and let marinade for at least 2-3 days (3 days is best)

    can be cooked either by
Removing from marinade and placing in roaster add a small amount of water to prevent burning and sticking cover tightly and cook at 350 degrees for 3-4 hours (depending on size of roast)

Or my preferred way is to remove from marinade and put in crock pot add a small amount of reserved marinade and cook on high for 2 hours and switch to low for 6-8 more hours (can adjust time for how your crock pot cooks. Mine cooks fast so it is done in 6 hours)

after cooking is done pour pan juices and some of the marinade (or water to taste) into a saucepan and thicken with corn flour (or regular flour or cornstarch) If using Maggi add to taste.

If using sour cream add to gravy now and serve with dumplings or potatoes

For what it's worth, several years ago, I was craving Claussen garlic dills...when I finished eating the pickles -- I drank the juice left behind!!!!!!! After several months of this, I mentioned this to my physician and he ran some tests. Couldn't find anything and said that sometimes the body just NEEDS certain nutrients and to just go with the flow. So I did! LOL! After a little over a year, the cravings ceased and now I eat those pickles (without drinking the juice) just like anyone else does;-D

I had similar cravings a few months after I had my baby. None during pregnancy, just afterwards. I drink ACV every few days now, just a couple of ounces.

Fish , but you might want to use malt vinegar..also malt vinegar is good on fries if you like that, mix mayo and malt vinegar and dip fries in ...I add honey or sweetener and drink it in the a.m. followed by big glass of water---great to cleanse...I have to go to hfs to get braggs today, I don't drink any other kind..

I mix cider vinegar and mayo (not miracle whip) together with black pepper, garlic powder and parsley - a good no salt dressing for salads. Also good spread on a hot roast beef sandwich!
