was 680.00 yep you read that right.

I cried. The worst thing is , when we move into a place the first month is

usually high.Because we are moving moves going in & out & learning theheating

systems & drafts. Not so with this house . We were pretty sure there wasnt much

insulation,so we bought a small heater for just our room.An kept the little

heater on at night for us.An the upstairs heat on night for the kids. During the

day they all pretty much went off. I used the stove to heat the kichen are part

were we do our school work. So this is sad. Im very upset. --rebecca

did you caulk or close up the cracks around windows

and doors? Or do a walk throughout your place to find

out where the air in comming in? We found a lot of

areas in our house leaking air, especially comming

from the attic and thr storage room in the basement.

We have to but new windows in the basement storage

area this year. Our electric bill is $191. Gas is

about $252. We burn wood in our fireplace insert.

Wood costs about $140 for a cord which last two

months. Our phone is $50 because we found a cheap long

    distance carrier.

You might try a tree trimming/cutting service for cheap firewood. There is one

near us (in Texas) that charges $50 for as much as can be piled onto a pickup

truck. It is primarily seasoned oak. The last load that we got was

approximately 3/4 of a cord and would have been more had we been willing to take

the time to load the bed a bit higher. We found the service listed in the

business want ads of the local (Dallas Morning News) paper.

Thanks for the advice Elizabeth. I will look into

this. The hubby cut some of the trees around our

house but most of it is pine and we can't burn that.

I find it appalling that people are paying for water! My sister pays about

    80 a month for water/sewer...thank goodness I am on a well and septic....my

electric bill is always under 100.00. Water is free for crying out loud, and

50-100 years ago, people didnt' pay for it at all!
