Hi all.

I'm a new member to this group, so I'm not quite sure of topics and

    culture etc.

I live in Denver and we're in the midst of winter of course. I'm

getting sick of my energy bills. I paid 267 last month. That's the

highest energy bill I've ever paid.

Another month or two and this should calm down.

What are those of you in other states paying?

    Thanks,

    Deb

Mine was $265 this month...not the highest it's ever been. There was one month last year that I paid over $325. KarenP

Deb, If you're paying 267 for ALL your utilities, then I say GREAT. I pay that

just for my gas bill. My water is around 70 and my electric is around 50. I have

just joined the budget plan for the gas bill. Mine keeps on climbing!!

My utilities don't include water, sewer or anything like that. My energy bill is just electric and gas. I actually was figuring on a bill of about $350 this month, with the bitter cold we had, so I was pleasantly surprised at my $265 bill. karenP

Here in Arkansas we pay about $100 for electric ($250 in the summer), $350 for

gas in the winter ($35 the rest of the time) and $60 for water.

About the same here in Ohio. We have old windows, so our home is not the most

efficient. I know once we replace them that our utilities will go down. Trying

to find great windows at a good price. We would prefer not to finance them, so

we are putting it off a bit.

We have level billing, which is great, until the "catch up" month hits, then

we get a huge bill. We are sending in some extra every month, but there's no

way to cover that full large amount all at once. Not right now.

I'm in Michigan. Right now, we live in a 1500 sq ft apartment, and

only pay electricity. Heat is included in the rent (thank GOD!). Our

electricity runs about $80 a month right now, but in the summer, it

will be higher when we use the AC. I want to say we were around

    $150/month over the summer.

Last winter, we lived in a 900 sq ft house that was very poorly

insulated, and we were spending at least $300 a month on heat.

This place is also poorly insulated (we have the heat cranked up to

about 80-85, the living room is roasting, but all the bedrooms are

freezing). I'm really glad we don't pay heat, I don't even want to

imagine how high it is. I'd think with the complex paying it, they'd

be more interested in making the place better insulated.

My heating oil was at $3.20 per gallon my last delivery. The gas company has gone up substantially and the electric bill is no better.
It appears that all efforts to hold down usage are ridiculous around here (Boston, MA) because the delivery charges, etc. they add on are absolutely ridiculous.
It's a very difficult year for us .
Laine
I live in a 3 bdroom 2 bath brick home with double windows and our gas (water

heater and heatpump) was 235.00! Electric same month was 167.00. This is killing

    us!

We have LP furnace with an electric blower. Our electric for the whole house was $66.00 but to fill our LP tank was $5500. We are hoping that it lasts all winter because we use it for cooking and hot water too, not just the furnace.

$464 for gas, about $70 for electric in the winter in Indiana. Gas is

closer to $50 in the summer, though, and electric is $175 or so.
