Past expiration date. Would you eat it?- Budget101 Discussion List

I just realized I have two sealed Hatfield ham steaks in the refrigerator with a "Freshest if used by" date of October 2007. Would you still cook and eat it? Thanks!

In the freezer or refrigerator? If they have been in the freezer, I think it

would be fine. Otherwise, I'd toss them in a heartbeat.

Well, the little mom and pop grocery store I work for has some for sale with

the out of date of Dec.07, I told the meat cutter, and he said, it's fine.

    Got me.

Were they in a frost free freezer either attached to your fridge or a standalone, then no. The frost free freezers constantly freeze then defrost - that is how they stay frost free. So food quality disintegrates.
