    Default creative correction ideas needed

Hey all. I've not posted in a while. But this group is very

informative to me and I get alot of ideas here and have gotten alot

of good advice. I have a bit of a problem today. My first grader

is in trouble at school today. My dh went in to have lunch with

him, and the teacher spoke with him. J.T., my son, was caught

cheating on his spelling test today, and a note is to be sent home

in his backpack letting me know of the situation. I am suprised at

my son, since he KNEW the words! Or atleast I thought he did, lol.

There is just no excuse for this behavior. In the past he has

gotten in trouble for other things and I've received a call from the

teacher on two different occasions for horseplay once and rolling

his eyes at a teacher the other time. For these things he got

extended time outs and loss of toys. I try to save spankings for

the blantant sort of misbehavior. But I don't know how to handle

this cheating thing best. I have the Creative Correction book by

Lisa Welchel. But other than using the vs. Proverbs 15:3 (The eyes

of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the

good), I don't have a specific idea. Any help would be

appreciated. I really want my son to understand that cheating is

wrong, and that it has consequences. Thanks ahead of time Barb

I'm sure when the teacher caught him she shared w/ the class causing him to

be embarressed. Then when his dad got the note (and mom) he is shamed again.

He does need to be told the cheating was wrong (and I'm sure he knew this).

But it is not the end of the world. Writing each word 10 times w/ a talk

should be enough. This has prob hurt mom and dad worse because you feel that

it reflects on you.Don't forget to let him know he did wrong and that you

still love him.First grade is hard!!!!!!

--- His excuse was only that he was trying to get done quickly. But

he did know the words, since we've studied every night atleast a bit.

And the teacher let me know that normally he does better than the one

that he copied from. We did write a vs. from the Bible 5 times and

then no tv tonight. He also wrote the teacher a small note telling

her he was sorry. I really hope that he learned his lesson. Thankyou

    for the advice Barb
