Christmas P.S.- Budget101 Discussion List

Has anyone seen packages of Christmas cards in their dollar store yet? I figure that's the cheapest place to get them, but it's out of my way, so I don't want to waste a trip. Thanks,

The many Dollar Tree stores I've been in have had them out for almost a

    month now.

I have not been to any of our dollar stores BUT Christmas is out everywhere.I lucked out last year..hubby and I went to Walmarts after Christmas sale.I got enough cards, gift wrap, boxes, bags, bows, tape and name tags to last for at least 3 years and all of it was cheap.I had to find a place to store it all but that was even worth the great buy.I also found some at yard and garage sales this summer so added to my stock from those as well.

Yes! Christmas cards are out there! I bought 4 boxes at Dollar Tree and they were quite nice! Now, if I can just afford stamps!

<FONT face="Tahoma">I know this won't help you this year but I went to my local thrift stores a week after Christmas (in 2004) and found Christmas cards for a nickel a piece. I bought so many I am still using them.

You live in MA right? How about the Christmas tree shop? They have

Christmas cards. But, have you thought about not doing Christmas

cards this year to save money? The Christmas Tree shop also has

things like books, toys, arts and crafts, kitchen stuff that is

inexpensive, but great for Christmas gifts. Maybe you could make a

kitchen basket of cooking stuff for your dad. They may still have

gardening stuff and you could make a gardening basket for your

    brother. Good luck.

If you're looking for boxed sets, Marshall's and TJ Maxx have those type out right now. They cost about $5 for a box of 15 - 20, but these are the cards that usually cost $15 a box. They're fancy-smancy! Jeanne

    Another thing-

if you save your cards year after year from other people, here's an

idea on how to recycle them. As long as the inside one the left side

(back of the cover) hasn't been written on, cut the card in half.

Draw a line down the middle and use half to write in the address,

and the other half to write in a quick Christmas message.

No buying cards, and stamps are almost half the cost of buying

    regular stamps. Much cheaper!
