I consider myself a fairly clean housewife. I have never had roaches

until a recent flood, which brought all of them my way. Do any of you

have any suggestions for getting rid of them, shy of hiring an

    exterminator?

I use to live in Houston, so I know what you are talking about. Here

in NC I didn't have the problems with the "R" word until after the flood.

We’ve just moved from Canada to Savannah
and I find that if you call them “palmetto beetles” they’re
    not quite as gross…

    LOL

I live in Houston too and the
Roaches are atrocious here after all this rain we’ve had. We recently had to have our sewer scoped
by the local water dept and you wouldn’t believe how many roaches are
living in your sewer system! I was thoroughly
    disgusted! The water people
informed me that Roaches are the only thing that sewer gas wouldn’t kill
and the pea traps in your homes are what keep the roaches from coming up out of
the sewer because they are usually filled with water. Anyway….I still get the willies
when I think of how many roaches are living just feet from my home, underground….YUCK!

<FONT face="Arial Narrow">I live in Ga near a river. We have all types of roaches. Once they set up camp, it can be hard to get them out. We tried almost EVERYTHING trying to get rid of those roaches. Years ago, my dearly departed friend, Kathy, told me what to do. She told me to buy this product at the do it yourself pest control place called "Maxforce". It was a gel. That is what we did. That took care of our roach problem. Years later, I sawtwo germanroaches. I startedputting Maxforce down again andIhave not seen any more roaches. I have never had a product work this well. http://www.e-bug.net/pests/maxforce.shtml

We had them to when we lived in the country and we tried everything,

untill we tried maxforce the gel one time and they were gone for good.

Well worth the money and not much expensive after you buy cans of the

    the other stuff.
