I am curious because what I'm looking for is someone I can talk to

help me with our budget and set up a plan to pay things off. We have

not used cc's in 2 yrs but are still paying on big balances. And have

a couple of medical collections to pay and I really need to refinance

our house. I know we have equity (I'm a real estate appraiser), but

all I want to do is refinance to roll our 1st and 2nd mortgages

    together.

I'm not sure if I should try to refinance 1st or consult with someone

like CCCs first? Any suggestions? Any tips on contacting/meeting with

    CCCs?

My dad went to CCC and it was the best thing he ever did. You have to be careful and get the one that is non-profit and endorsed by the better business bureau. They will talk to you in person for FREE and help you come up with a budget even if you decide not to use their service all of FREE which is a major difference from most of the "counselors" out there.

I worked with them many years ago. I know that you can do a consultation over the phone or in person. They are helpful with you going over things and making a budget, but you must be honest and reveal all of the financial picture to them. Herlean
