    go to www.fastweb.com

They have a lot of scholarships available. Some you

just have to meet certain criteria, others you must

write an essay or something along those lines.

    hth,

He dear it seems like you would need to talk to the college financial aide office. They have lists of other grants, and scholarships. Here in PA there is a PHEA grant that will take you through your whole 4 years of school. I realize you do not want to go and get college loans so talk to the financial aide office (not just some one in the office make an appointment with the departments manager or dean).
Since I don't know what state you live in have you tried doing the FASFA form on line. It make take some time but with that the college has a better idea of what funds you have available and what other grants and scholarships they can use.
    Good Luck

say maybe you should make a list of pros and cons on the things you

spend your money on. Think about what you have to have like pay for

your home, telephone, car repairs and insurance, internet fees, power

bill, medications, non-food items (this can be food for a pet, toilet

tissue, laundry soap and ect.) and gas money. On the con list is

things you could live without like cable or satelite TV, going to the

movies too often, dining out when you could prepare food from home

and take it with you to work, keeping up with the latest fashions,

buying lottery tickets, I think you get the idea. Next, start by

eliminating what is not absolutely necessary for you to spend your

money on. If you have already done that and you are still short then

think about getting rid of one job and apply for the pel grant

again. I sure hope this helps you. If you have needs that you can't

afford join several of the yahoo groups that give free things away or

go through your stuff that you have at home that you could do without

and sell it on eBay or craigslist.com (they will let you post your

items for free). Stay happy and healthy and good luck.

    Sincerely,

    Connie

Ask for help from a financial aid office at the school. There are

thousands of grants out there, and it's their job to help you locate

which ones you might qualify for.

You'd be amazed at some of the grants available. If you had a child

while you were still a teen (which means up to 19), you can find

grants. If you were emancipated, you can find grants. If you come

from a family where no one has ever graduated from college, you can

find grants. If your family previously attended the same school, you

can find grants. If you are going into a specific type field of

study, you can find grants. If you were on the high school bowling

    team, you can find grants.

Basically, that is to say, don't underestimate your ability to find

a grant. Make sure you work closely with the financial aid office,

though, because they have access to MANY more grants than you can

    find on your own.

The down side right now, is that you likely won't be able to find

any that are still available in time for the fall semester. These

things are snatched up quickly, starting around February for the

    fall semester.

But, you may be able to find some for the Spring semester. They are

harder to find, though, as well, because most grants are given based

on a yearly status- both fall & spring semesters.

Aside from that, cut back on the bills you currently have as much as

possible, save the extra money you need, and make sure you are

working still while attending school. Maybe not full time if you are

going to school full time (around 12 credit hours), but at least

part time. Then, during the summer, you work full time or more, and

save up every bit of extra money you can.

If you need to take out a student loan, do so only for the full

amount of the school bills, because it can be very easy to fall into

the trap of looking at it as free money for several years, until it

comes back to bite you in the rear.
