Default Totally OT- Front load washing machine

Can you use just regular liquid detergent?? Or do you have to use the High Efficiency detergent? (HE) We just got a new washer (old one totally died) and I just want to make sure I can use my regular detergent. Thanks! Sondra

I don't know. I have the top loading version.

Check the manual. It should direct you which way to go.
If your machine is under warranty and you mess it up by using the wrong kind of detergent, it may void the warranty.

I haven't been following this post but only noticed

the topic and had to mention this. My sister has a

front load washing machine that uses the high

    efficiency detergent.

Because she has small children and a dog, she is

unable to leave the front door open to air the washer

out after using it....for fear of the kids or dog

    getting trapped inside.

I found that I had to use the HE detergent in my front
loader that says it is required. When I did not I had way too much suds and the
machine sensed this and sent my clothes thru 3 extra rinse cycles. I only used
a little detergent about of normal. I did it because I was stuck with no HE, but
    never again.
