1 lb ground beef
1/3 c dry bread crumbs
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 tbl cold water
1 egg
1 large onion, sliced and separated
1- 10 1/2 can condensed beef broth
4 oz mushrooms, sliced
2 tsp cornstarch
1/4 c A1

Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, egg and A1; make 4 patties about 3/4" thick
Cook patties over medium heat, turning occasionally, until brown- about 10 minutes
Drain grease
add mushrooms and broth and onion; heat to boiling, reduce heat and cover.

Simmer until patties are done, about 10 minutes
Remove patties
Heat onion mixture to boiling. Mix water and cornstarch and add to onion mixture
Boil and stir 1 mintue- serve over patties

**Do not have to use mushrooms; can serve the sauce on the side as gravy*
