My dad has taught me how to work hard and how to buy necessities, not spend money on frivolous items. He is a farmer and works a "public" job now. We grew most of what we ate and we didn't get to buy school clothes until the tobacco was sold, usually in October. I never had fashionable clothes, but I had clothes on my back, food in my stomach and a roof over my head. (That still rings in my ears, after hearing it soooo often when I wanted the latest fashion). Today, I am avery frugal shopper and know that the latest fashion is just a flash in the pan, not all it's hyped up to be.
