I got a bunch of advice for you. First here's a new recipe I tried

    recently and loved for chili:

1 pound ground beef or leftover turkey or chicken

    1 jar salsa

    2 cans condensed tomato soup

3 cans chili or kidney beans

2 cans corn or 1 bag frozen corn

    8-10 cups water

    4 tbsp. chili powder

Put everything in a slow cooker/crock pot and simmer for a couple of

    hours.

If you have a super walmart in your area, you could use this site

called to win a free Walmart gift card and use that for your

food shopping and other stuff as well.

Netwinner is this great powerball type game online where when you win

enough points you can get free gift cards or cash!

You don't have to pay anything to play, you dont even need to complete

sponsor offers like so many other scam sites. My husband and I have

already received $25 cash from this website and are waiting for our

first gift card. Gift cards are currently for Walmart, Target, Bath &

Body Works and others. They want to add more games and gift cards

    later.

Everyone in your family who is over 18 can have a seperate account for

, which can at least double your chances of things if you and

hubby both play. You might even only have to be 13 to play, not sure.

Your kids might be able to play under your name or your hubby's also

when the two of you are busy if you let them have your password. The

    game is very easy.

If you don't mind using your food pantry, they have a lot of basic

stuff available at mine. They always have spaghetti noodles,

spaghetti sauce, canned tuna, soup, cereal, canned fruits and veggies.

At mine you get 1 meat choice in addition to your other stuff.

Seeds are very cheap. Plant a garden and grow your own veggies.

Tomatoes and green/yellow/wax beans are very easy to grow.

My mom also has had some luck with green peppers and cucumbers

although they sometimes are smaller than the stores. A twist on this

    from someone I know:

    FREE SEEDS

If you are going to grow things, save seeds from melons, summer

squash, tomatoes, peppers, when you prepare them in your kitchen....

you can grow these. That will save money in seed purchases, and

you'll get the varieties you like. After your garden is

done for the winter, pick ripened dried bean pods etc and use those

    seeds for your next garden.

Part of a post someone sent me when I asked how to save money on food

    also:

    FREE FOOD

My gentleman companion has 8 chickens. (we have a large yard). He

goes to the grocery stores and asks for produce trims to feed them.

You would not believe what all stores throw out in their dumpsters.

Store managers have only so much space on shelves and in coolers.

When a new shipment comes in, they take the old out and just THROW IT

AWAY! Besides produce they get rid of cans, packages, wrapped meat,

bread, cheese... everything. Some of it is "expired dated" but most

    is not.

You can talk to the manager about food they are tossing and ask if you

can have it. Sometimes they even have ripped bags of pet food etc if

you have pets...if it is something you cant use why not donate it or

    give to someone who can?

Try looking up angel food ministries and SHARE online. You get food

for less money than it is worth at the grocery store. Shop at

discount stores like Aldi and Walmart for your groceries.

Not really an idea to save on groceries, although rarely you do

get cheap groceries this way. Do rebates for Walgreens and get the

gift card. They have a brochure sized booklet each month that you

can find near the sale ads in the store. Inside it will tell you

what is free that month. The first few numbered items are free all

month. Sometimes the store has sales that make something free

just for one week. I have gotten sanitary hygiene stuff

(pads, tampons)for $1 a pack with this rebate. I have gotten 12 pack

of name brand soda like sunkist, coke, etc for $1.25 and under from

Walgreens rebate. I have gotten toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant,

over the counter medications, body wash and other items totally free.

If you have a coupon they will pay you to take the item! Definitely

    worth checking out.

Thats all I can think of for now, sorry it was so long!

First off, I shop at Aldis and SaveALot. Hopefully you have similar places near you. Then, for the vegan pick up bean burritos (no meat), if she's strictly a true vegan it can be really difficult because then it's no dairy products, no eggs, etc. If she's just a vegetarian it's a lot easier. Make a few large dishes of meatless casseroles (mac n cheese, egg dishes, bean soup, etc.) I'll post one of my favorite vegetarian dishes that even my meat eaters here eat too in another post!

    Good luck!
