Question Need help finding training pants/any potty training insights?

My youngest will be 4 in March, and she is still not potty trained. I am beside myself; and we can barely afford her diapers/pull-ups - not to mention they barely fit her! (she weighs 53 pounds and the largest size of all brands are too tight and often rip when we put them on). She has a bladder probem, V-UR which probably contributes to the delay. She will go sometimes in the potty, but usually ony when we let her run around naked. If she has a bladder infection, and after every Dr. appointment and catheterization she REFUSES the potty.

I would love to find the good old fashioned thick cloth panties, and rubber pants my mother used, but I can't seem to find anything ilke that.

Anyone have ideas? We are going broke buying huggies pull-ups because this is all I can find that really fit; I have even gone as far as looking into adult diapers but they cost even more!!!!!

Are you handy with a sewing machine? It really sounds like you'd be ALOT better off making your own. They're relatively inexpensive to make, it costs about $3.35 per diaper in materials, but they're completely reusable. Here is a wonderful site with Free patterns and step by step directions. They have different styles, pull up, velcro, etc.

Here's a page on how to make Waterproof covers:

Sew Your Own Diapers: Ultrex/PUL with Snaps

They're sort of like the old fashioned vinyl pants that kids wore years ago, the ones you mentioned that you can never find in stores anymore.

Here's a link to waterproof underpants from Amazon.

Here's an older thread that has some great information too about how to make your own cloth diapers/pull-ups using recycled clothing- basically old sweaters, flannel shirts, etc along with a bunch of free patterns.
