Symptoms of Diabetes- Budget101 Discussion List

The list of symptoms in the post on diabetes type 1 also applied to type 2 diabetics. The frequent thirst and urination is what tipped me off to my own problem. I have been a type 2 for 11 years now. Not something I would wish on anyone. Rather time consuming! Phyllis

Hi Ann I have had type 2 diabetes for years and my doctor has given

me a free glucose meter but the supplies you have to pay for unless

you have medicare, medicaid, or insurance. I bought a cheap one at

walmart for $8.88 at one time. It is called ReliOn and the strips are

not really expensive, something like 50 for $21.00 or so. they are

always advertising on tv about getting your diabetes meds and such

for free and delivered to your house if you have medicare. But check

with your doctor to see if he gives the meters away to his patients.

I hope this helps you some. Debby in Louisiana

I would love to have this link. We think my husband has diabetes. He has a lot of the symptoms but we don't have any insurance for him to take the tests.

I know Walgreens does free meters every month in their refund catalogs.

You pay for it, then get the money back at the end of the month, plus

10% if you do a gift card.

<FONT face="Arial Narrow">The only time you can receive the meter AND supplies free if charge is usually through your insurance company or a company which processes the insurance for you. Many companies do give away free meters but they make their money back with those outrageous testing strips prices.

This is true, actually have considered doing this even though I haven't been diagnosed diabetic yet. I do other Walgreens rebates all the time so I know how to do them. My glucose has been high and I'm nervous but my doc doesn't seem to be...don't know why.

Meter - check your Sunday paper, call the hospital and ask your doctor. The

    supplies are rarely free.

Your local free clinic and/or hospital will give him a test (urine and/or blood) for free if you are financially qualifying/in need. Herlean
