Default A helpful hint to keep squirrls away from places you dont wa

Hi, Im new, this is my first post, but thought this may help others
as it was a great help to us.

Earlier this year we developed a problem with squirrls. On the eve
of our house we had board that had started to rot. My husband
replaced it, but the squirrls decided it would be a good place to
chew,,LOL,,well after replacing it twice, the squirrls got in, and
were reaking havoc in my attic, the wiring and etc. I was at a loss
at what to do. Calling in professionals was not an option because of
the expense, as well as, they wanted to place cages and catch them,
then turn them loose. The whole idea was I didnt want them coming
back again and again, but I didnt want to kill them either. So I
found out that the Fox is the natural predator of a squirrl. So I
went to WalMart to the hunting section and found a bottle of fox
urine. LOL I know ewwww,,is what I thought as well. But it works. I
bought a bottle, put it in a spray bottle and we sprayed the eves
all around the house. NO MORE squirrls!!! yeahhh!!! This really
works..The squirrls dont even jump from the trees to cross over the
roof of the house anymore. And the bottle was only about 5 bucks and
it goes a long ways. Now it does smell to high heaven, but the smell
does go away in a few minutes and you cant smell it anymore, but the
    squirrls can.
I have also found this helps as well around the bird feeders. The
squirrls are always getting into those as well. Ive also sprayed
around the base of some of my trees when the birds were nesting to
keep the squirrls out of the nests.
Hope this helps someone as much as it has us.
    Thanks
    Chelle

Great idea. I think the squirrels are keeping away my birds. So I'm going to
investigate this and give it a try.

They also have fox urine in granular/powder form. I use this to help keep mice
away also (I sprinkled it liberally around my bird feeder and it did the trick
with the squirrels also!!). I smells nasty for a day or so, but that goes away.
The powder last about a month and I got it at the feed store.
