Default Question about being a Mystery Shopper

    Good morning all!

I have a question for those of you that are mystery shoppers. How do you have to do your taxes? Do the companies you work for consider you contract labor and send you a 1099, if so then do you have to check that you are self employed on your tax return and get taxed for that? I'm considering doing this, but am concerned about the tax situation.

    Thanks much for your help!!

Default Question about being a Mystery Shopper

According to the mystery shopping companies that I work for...you do not

need to claim the money earned unless it is more than $600. They do not

send you a W-2 unless you earn more than that and depending on how you

mystery shop you will rarely earn that much through one company.
