    Default fire logs

I remember some time ago hearing that you can make your own duraflame

logs with shredded paper. My DH and I were given a scanner for

Christmas so we are going through and scanning into the computer years

of old documents, bills and papers. We tehn shred the docs. At the

end of this we will problaby shred hundreds of thousands of papers.

Since they are credit cards and sensitive stuff, I want to burn it

instead of tossing it. Does anyone know how to make those logs like

the duraflame logs? THat would solve two problems in one. Thanks

    Hi Amy

I did a google search and found this site from England:

    http://www.two3five.com/paperlog.htm

Looks like an easy and worthwhile project.

Good luck in trying this idea.

We are scanning all our old files, starting with the most recent and

going back as time permits. We have boxes and boxes of old credit

card statements, bank statements, receipts, stuff we need to keep but

I am too disorganized, and honestly don't have the time, to file

anything. My DH and I scan the stuff, we set up a folder on our hard

drive of "documents" then subfolders like credit cards, student

loans, important docs for the kids etc, a subfolder for each credit

card and then scan and save the documnet. A credit card statemetn

for this month would be called Feb2007 under the Capital One card

file. We are scanning any document that needs to be kept for

finanical reasons, health stuff and kids stuff. I hope to ulitamtely

get rid of thousands and thousands of papers for the shredder. Feel

free to email me if you want more info- aallemann@aol.com

If you use this method to preserve old files, be diligent with making backup files on CDs or DVDs. After all that work, you wouldn't want to lose it all with a hard drive crash.
