Substitution for Milk- Breakfast Ideas

Hello all: I am on dialysis and am restricted from milk and most dairy, can I substitute Mocha Mix or Soy Milk for dairy milk? Any feedback would be great. Thanks - Marie

Marie, If you're already allowed to use soy or mocha mix, then yes, you could try substituting it. But if you're asking from a dietary standpoint, is it okay to Eat/Drink it, then your question is best left answered by your dr. Generally speaking, you have to limit your phosphorus-

    • Dairy products such as milk, cheese, pudding, yogurt and ice cream
    • Dried beans and peas such as kidney beans, split peas and lentils
    • Nuts and peanut butter

You may be able to substitute Almond Milk, which is very low in fat, protein and contains manganese & vitamin e. It's also quite tasty and very simple to make at home.
    ~Enjoy!~
