Household Tips: Drying Apples & Other Fruit
Firstly, our site, http://www.budget101.com/dehydrated_foods.htm has a great
food drying/dehydrating section to answer many of your questions. However,
members often ask specifically about drying apples this time of year.
Once you have peeled & sliced your apples dunk them into a mixture of ascorbic
acid (Vitamin C!), The amount I use is 2 tsp per cup of warm water. Ascorbic
acid is available at most walmarts/targets, etc.
Some recipes may recommend soaking your fruit in salt or vinegar, which not
only ruins the taste, but results in a longer drying time.
