A Couple of Chili Recipes Great for Warming up from the Cold Weather
Aunt B's Easy Chili
•1 to 1-1/2 Lbs Ground Beef
•1 Onion, Chopped
•1/2 Bottle Chili Sauce
•2 Tsp Chili Powder
•1/4 Cup Ketchup
•1 15 oz. Crushed Tomatoes (put in blender if you have picky eaters)
•Brown meat and drain off any excess grease
•Mix meat with the rest of the ingredients and simmer for about 20 minutes.
•Serve with saltine crackers or Frito's corn chips and shredded cheese
Double Barrel Chili
•1 Lb Ground Beef
•1 Medium Onion, Chopped
•1 Jar Heinz Chili Sauce
•1 Can Tomato Sauce
•1 Can Original Rotel Tomatoes
•2 Cans Kidney Beans (1 dark & 1 light...or whatever you like)
•2 Tbsp Chili Powder
•1 Tsp Ground Cumin
•1/4 Tsp Ground Cayenne Pepper
•Sauté Onions in a large skillet...about 5 min into cooking the onions, add the ground beef, brown and drain off grease
•In a medium-sized pot, add the Chili Sauce, Drained Kidney Beans, Drained Rotel, Tomato Sauce, Chili Powder, Ground Cumin, & Ground Cayenne Pepper...mix well and bring to a simmer over low heat.
•Once the meat & onions are done, add them to the pot, return to a simmer, and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes.
•The longer you simmer the chili, the more flavor the meat will absorb...so if you have the time, try simmering for up to a couple of hours...this will make for some great tasting chili.
•Try serving with Saltine Crackers or Fritos & Shredded Cheese
•This chili recipe does have a little kick to it...to reduce it, or even eliminate it...use black pepper instead of cayenne (or don't use any pepper at all), and reduce chili powder to 1 Tbsp or less.
