    • Deer and Rabbit Repellent Spray Recipes

Having a garden of vegetables and flowers creates a certain serenity - which can be destroyed virtually overnight by furry pests such as rabbit and deer. Here is a collection of our favorite homemade Deer & Rabbit deterrent recipes

      1 cup skim milk

2 Tablespoons liquid Dawn dish detergent, original scent

Put all in blender and spray full strength onto plants. This lasts about 10 days before needing to reapply.

      2 eggs beaten and strained
      5 drops liquid dish soap
      five drops cooking oil
20 drops of essential oil of cloves

Carefully funnel into a 1 gallon jug and top off with water. Shake well. Spray as a light mist. Reapply spray every 2-3 weeks. Makes 1 Gallon

      2 cups of water
      5 cloves of fresh garlic
1 cup of finely chopped onions
5 Tbsp. powdered hot pepper, such as cayenne

Pour into a covered container and let stand for 24 hours. Strain and carefully funnel into a 1 gallon jug and top off with water. Shake well. Apply to plants with a sprayer. Makes 1 Gallon

      Recipe #5

      Old Standby's

Here are a few tips and ideas we've collected in the past 10 or so years:

      1. Dial Soap or Lifebuoy Soap Carefully drill a hole in the bar and string fishing line or jute through it. If using this method, you'll need to hang one bar from each small tree (or fence post) or every 3 feet on larger trees.

I am fortunate that I do not have a problem with deer in my garden. However, my parents live out in the country and they are constantly having to share their harvest with the deer! I'm going to print out these tips and give them to my parents. Thanks!
