This is gonna sound crazy, but try flea shampoo for dogs, get the cheapest you can, just be sure to read the label and make sure it says lice too in addition to fleas and ticks. Use it every day, make sure you wash all pillows and bedding as well. I had to do this with my daughter when she had it, her hair is sooo thick and after a few days no problems.

Stephanie Dark <thedarks@astound.<WBR>net> wrote: <BLOCKQUOTE class="replbq" style="BORDER-LEFT: #1010ff 2px solid;"> I have been told that taking a bottle of Cetaphil face wash (or the generic will work too), applying to wet hair, then blow drying & covering the head w/plastic wrap (or plastic shower cap) and letting it sit overnight will kill all the eggs (thickness & drying of Cetaphil is suffocating)<WBR>. The next morning just wash your hair
as usual. Be sure to use the whole bottle, don't skimp!!! The goal is to have a thick head of the product all over your scalp.
In general: These three clean up steps should be done once a week at the time of the weekly treatment. 1. Sterilize all the family's combs and brushes. You can choose one of two methods. You may soak the combs and brushes in isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol for 10 minutes or you may put them in the dishwasher on the full hot cleaning cycle. 2. Treat all bedding at the time of each lotion application. Take all sheets, pillow cases, blankets, comforters, and bedspreads from the beds in your house and run them in the dryer for 10 minutes on high temperature. Then put the bedding back on beds. You do not have to wash it. 3. Patients should change to new fresh clothes after each treatment. Put dirty clothes
in the laundry hamper for later laundering. <DIV apple="true"><SPAN class="Apple-style-span" style="FONT-WEIGHT: normal;FONT-SIZE: 12px;COLOR: rgb(0,0,0);TEXT-INDENT: 0px;FONT-STYLE: normal;FONT-FAMILY: Casual;LETTER-SPACING: normal;BORDER-COLLAPSE: separate;FONT-VARIANT: normal;"> <SPAN class="Apple-style-span" style="FONT-WEIGHT: normal;FONT-SIZE: 12px;TEXT-TRANSFORM: none;COLOR: rgb(0,0,0);TEXT-INDENT: 0px;FONT-STYLE: normal;FONT-FAMILY: Casual;LETTER-SPACING: normal;BORDER-COLLAPSE: separate;FONT-VARIANT: normal;">

FYI... The cleaner your scalp the more likely you are to attract the critters. It is an ugly trick they pull but try not washing your hair for a while because by this point I am just wondering if you have the "phantom itches". When ever anyone says the "L word" around me I start scratching and won't have been anywhere near anything to be in contact with the bugs! You may have over cleaned your scalp to the point where it is lacking natural moisture that belongs there making it dry and itchy. Try going a few days with doing nothing and see if it doesn't start to feel better.

My hairdresser told me that you really have to treat every 3-4 days
for awhile to get all the ones that hadn't hatched when you treated
originally. This past year lice found its way into our home, three
kids and I got it. Oh, the itch (and did I mention I was pregnant at
the time?). I had been checking them because they were itchy but
couldn't find anything and chalked it off to cold temp change and dry
scalp. Then I saw some bugs in my daughter's head. I started out
with the Nix stuff, but when I'm still getting lots of LIVE bugs I
knew I had to use something else. So, next day or so did the olive
oil treatment and I saw a huge improvement. Then about 3-4 days
later started to a couple of live bugs (when combing with the lice
comb) so did another treatment. I found the olive oil treatment
worked far better than the chemical ones. Pillows and such that you
can't wash, toss in the dryer on high heat (can't remember how long,
30 mins?). We did vacuum everything we could. I washed
sheets/blankets/coats every day for close to a week. I can't even
begin to imagine trying to deal with this and working full-time.
I did read somewhere that it could take awhile for the itch to go away
even if the lice is gone.

Help
Have someone else check your head. I agree about itching after they
are gone. My son was bit by a flea (we think from the rabbits) but he
was still in diapers and going to nursery school. Anyway, the flea set
up an allergic reaction and he had dry bumps all over his arms, legs
and some of his tummy. It looked bad and felt even worse - felt like
sandpaper but large bumps!! Dr finally prescribed some type of silver
cream that finally worked but he had those bumps for almost a month. I
put long sleeves and long pants on him and took a note from Dr that it
wasn't anything contagious. Amazing what your body does!! KarenMO

Help
If you have left the Tea Tree oil on at least 45 minutes, and at least
4 nights in a row, you are lice free, what about your pillow? I am
sure you washed your pillow cases, but did you treat your pillow? You
can do this, either seal it in a bag for at least a week, or seal it
is a bag and put it in the freezer for 24 hours. That should do
it....you can also make a mist with the Tea Tree oil to help kill any
that my be living in your bedding, if you can get your hands on a
plastic mattress cover ...even if you can borrow one for a week, seal
your mattress in it, this is good and should be done once a year
anyway to kill dust mites.
Blessings
Carol
