    • MYO Heavy Cream Substitute

Heavy cream is often called for in baked goods recipes and it can be rather expensive to have on hand. Here are a couple different homemade substitutes that work well in place of heavy cream.

      MYO Heavy Cream Substitute

      You'll Need:
3/4 cup milk (not low fat)
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted and cooled

      Directions:
Combine the ingredients and Use in place of one cup heavy cream.

      *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Did you know regular heavy cream has 100 calories and 11 grams of fat per 2 tablespoons? If you are looking to drastically reduce your calories, substituting an equal amount of half-and-half cream for the heavy cream called for in a recipe generally works quite well. Or, alternatively, you can give this low fat heavy cream substitute a try:

      MYO Low-Fat Heavy Cream Substitute

8 ounces low fat cottage cheese
      3 tablespoons non-fat powdered milk

      Directions

Combine and in a blender, puree for 3 minutes, use in your favorite recipe calling for heavy cream. This is not meant to replace whipping cream, but can be used in baked goods recipes calling for heavy cream.

This is a little confusing...Is the recipe for the heavy cream substitute: 3/4 milk, 1/3 cup butter, 8 oz low fat cottage cheese and 3 tablespoons non-fat powdered milk ?? The ingredients are separated and I'm confused. Thanks

This is great to know that you have two substitutes to make the heavy cream. I haven't tried the cottage cheese and non fat powdered milk so will make it first. Thank you.

Wow... this is awesome... I will tend to put off making a recipe sometimes because it calls for expensive heavy cream....plus never have a use for the extra left over...not sure about freezing it.
