• MYO Chewy Granola Bars

    MYO Chewy Granola Bars
    This is one of my favorite granola bar recipes. These will NOT last long, you might want to make 2 batches! My entire family Loves them. You could add chopped dried fruit such as apples, cherries, raisins for additional nutrition.
    1 1/2 cups Bisquick like mix
    1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
    1 cup brown sugar -- packed
    1/2 cup butter or margarine -- softened
    1 egg
    1/3 cup chocolate chips

    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all until well blended.

    Press mixture evenly in un-greased rectangular pan 13x9x2".

    Bake 15-17 minutes.; Cut into bars while still warm.

    Variations: add 1/3 c. chopped dried fruits & 1/3 c. powered milk for a breakfast bar

      Found this recipe about a year and a half ago on this web site. My kids actually prefer this over the store bought ones, and have even had their friends beg the kids to bring in some for them.

      Made these yesterday...they're delicious!
      I added dry powdered milk, a bit of wheat germ, flax seed, and a touch of shredded coconut.
      Next time I make these, I'm going to use toasted slivered almonds and some dried fruit.

      I will make these today for my kids before they get home from school.This will make a good snack and will hold them off until dinner.It also healthly thats always a plus.

      I liked the taste of these but I must have done something wrong because they fell apart when I took them out of the pan. Any suggestions?

      these were awesome, the first time I made them, I was a little short on food and made them with dried prunes and some chopped up pecans. They were gone the same day. We made another batch today substituting the margarine for peanut butter and added some chopped peanuts. This batch mixed a little dry, but added some water and they came out just as good.

      Does anyone know how long these will keep if i wrap them in parchment paper and plastic wrap?

      made these today and they are great.... I used pb chips and raisins yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Thank you for the list of other ingredients that you have put in them! I just went to the grocery store and forgot to pick up chocolate chips...I'll try the peanut butter and pecans!
      Wondering though, how much water did you add to the mix? Thanks again!

      I usually bake them a little less time...I think it depends on the oven. I know my gas oven baked them differently than my electric oven does.

      This recipe really looks pretty easy. Does anyone know if you can freeze these?
