      Basil Treatment

Boil 1 cup distilled water, put in about 1 - 2 tsp of dried basil, take off flame and let steep for about 10 minutes. Strain water into a glass container with a tight fitting lid. (Baby food jar would be great) Use a cotton ball to apply water to face morning and night. Keep in refrigerator. Keeps about 5 days.

      Toothpaste, Not just for Teeth!

Try putting a dab of plain toothpaste on your pimples before you go to bed and wash off in the morning. It'll dry those nasty things up in no time!

I occasionally get a break-out and have found Calamine lotion works great.

So does three tabs of moistened asprin, either in water or witch hazel. It's the salicyclic acid that works.

Here's what works for my adult acne!
Take a clean cotton swap and put a few drops of all nature tea tree essential oil on it and dab that on those big red ones!
Do a online search and you will find tons of articles that support this.

The moistened asprin does work.. I add a bit of honey to it b/c when the asprin dries it makes me sneeze something awful.. but not when I add honey. Also.. the skin can become 'used' to the application of asprin, so use it only once a week..and use sunscreen!
Beware though if you are already on medication that warn against aspirin ask your doc first!

What concentration of tea tree oil should you use? Where do you buy it?
      1. maryeaton1993's Avatar
I take alcohol, like rubbing alcohol, a low percent maybe 60 or 75 and take a cotton pad. Rub it all over my face scrubbing. When you're finished you'll see all the dirt and grime you've got in your pores. It's nasty! You'd be surprised what you find on the back of your neck!

I use tea tree oil in with my conditioner. It's really great if you have dry itchy scalp. I love the minty scent it leaves on my hair.
