    • Repurposing: Parmesan Cheese Covers

A guide to help families get the most from their money-parmjar.jpg Did you know that a Parmesan Cheese can lid will fit a mason jar? Use them to store your own homemade powder recipes, seasoning mixes, pet treats, snack items like m&m candies, or even homemade pest repellent powders. The flip top allows for easy distribution of pest repellents such as diatomaceous earth or homemade carpet deodorizers.

Use it on top of a jar of Super Laundry Sauce for easy access. Create your own delicious gourmet popcorn seasonings and use the top as a shaker for your popcorn.

What are your favorite uses for this cool shaker top?

Great idea... But why not just use the entire container? I can understand if you use a small pint jar, but why not reuse the Parmesan jar itself?

Thank you!! I never thought to try the lid on a mason jar! I hate the plastic container if I need to keep it in the cupboard or on the counter, but just the lid isn't bad! The reason I like a glass jar better is it doesn't get knocked over as easily. I tend to get rammy in the kitchen and it irritates me when I slide things over and they fall over. Silly I know

Great idea. As soon as my Parmesan cheese gets used up I will put this on my laundry sauce that I am in the process of making now. Thanks.

I use the lids on my mason jars in the past. Most peanut butter jar lids also fit the regular mouth mason jars. Saves on buying those plastic lids from the mason jar manufacturers. I used peanut butter jar lids for my laundry sauce and dishwasher sauce. I also used the whole parmesan container to give my son some of my laundry sauce to take home. He's 21 and on his own so he was
"grateful" to get free laundry detergent. Love both the dishwasher and laundry sauce. Going to try more ideas soon! Thanks!

Hmmm, well my Parmesan cheese generally comes in a wedge; the powdered stuff is truly not as economical as you think, except that you get it cheaper because the pre-grated (powdered stuff) is coated with cornstarch or powder, so you will never have the real thing if you are buying a powdered cheese. Geeze Louise!

About the covers, they also cover a nice box of mixed WHOLE peppercorns; I would be able to use those, or various other like containers, for the uses mentioned above.

        Thanks!

Here's a hint. You can get Mason jars by buying pasta sauces in those lovely jars that also have measurements on them. How awesome is that?
