Make Your Own Frozen Gel Packs
In a vacuum seal bag combine 3 cups of water and 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol. Place in a container upright and freeze. (Seal after you freeze it.) It will not freeze solid, but will create a hard slush (like a gel).
Make up several different sizes use for Ice packs for arms, legs, banged knees, or toss them in your cooler to keep your drinks cold on the way to the beach.

  1. my son recently had surgery on his ankle. the amount of money we spent on store bought ice packs was rediculous. i’m going to make several of these so the next time i ned an ice pack it will cost almost nothing.

  2. i have made these and they are wonderful. i keep 3 in the freezer at all times of different sizes. I also keep a shoe box with more stored in it in case I need them for picnics etc.

      Great idea.We use these for cold pack. Never thought about using for coolers!

    • Are these reusable? Cheer Season is starting up and its a Pain to buy a TON of the ice packs.

      Yes, you just refreeze them.

  3. as a physical therapist we tell people about these all the time. we usually do 2 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol. It depends on how firm you like them, more alcohol, less firm.

    Be sure you use a layer of cloth between skin and pack!
