Duncart, I would suggest looking on the website of the brand you normally use. For example, I usually buy Clabber Girl baking powder (I know, not the same as baking soda) and their website FAQ's states that their products are gluten free (double check for accuracy) except for one size of the BP, because it was "produced on a shared line" so there could be cross contamination. I've also noticed that many products are are being labeled GF for ease of consumers.

I did come across this website http://www.nuts.com/gluten-free . According the their site, they are Certified Gluten-Free by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO) and they have Arm & Hammer Baking Soda for sale with the rest of their GF products. The ingredients for that product is "Sodium bicarbonate. Packaged in the same facility as peanuts, tree nuts, soy, and milk products."

To your original question, as long as the ingredients in Baking Soda is only Sodium Bicarbonate, I would assume that yes, baking soda is GF.
