2 c herbed croutons
3 tbsp melted margarin
1 c water
1 c cubed american cheese
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 10 oz packages frozen chopped broccoli
1 tsp salt
preheat oven to 350. slightly crush croutons and toss with melted margarine. set aside. place broccoli, water, and salt in pan. bring to rolling boil. separating broccoli pieces. remove from heat, drain well. set aside. place cheese in saucepan, add soup. cook over medium heat until cheese is melted. remove from heat, stir in broccoli, pour into ungreased baking dish. sprinkle with croutons on top and bake for 20 minutes or until bubbly.
Pear butter is a smooth puree of pears that have been simmered with a touch of citrus and nutmeg to bring out the full flavor of the pear. It's a perfect topping on ice cream, slathered on buttered toast or warm biscuits. It's an excellent accompaniment to any pork dish, particularly grilled pork chops or roast pork tenderloin.
