    Star Measuring Cup Trick

Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill it with hot
water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry the cup. Next, add your
ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out

Great idea. I'll keep that in mind. If the recipe calls for oil or butter, I put that in the cup first then the sticky ingredient. I made muffins with honey and molasses today and put the oil in first. Works like a charm.

hmm what do you do if a recipe calls for shortening? I have such a hard time getting the shortening to come out when I make my buttercream frosting

A trick that I've used for years is to tear off a bit of plastic wrap (maybe 6 inches) and put that in the cup first. Then put in the shortening. Be sure that you mash on the top of the shortening several times to get all the air out and all the wrinkles in the plastic wrap that may be on the bottom of the cup. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, then you just lift out the plastic wrap and your cup remains clean.

    Hope this helps.
