 You don't have to spend a fortune purchasing high-quality Commercial Potting Mix, you can easily make your own. In addition, these mixes won't weight down your pots, choking out the roots of seedlings.

All Purpose Potting Mix

• 8 quarts potting soil with vermiculite or perlite
• 1 quart coarse sand
• 4 quarts sphagnum peat moss, compost, and/or rotted
• manure

Lightweight Potting Mix

• 8 quarts potting soil
• 1 quart perlite
• 1 quart vermiculite
• 8 quarts sphagnum peat moss
• 1 cup greensand
• 1 cup gypsum

Soil-less Potting Mix

• 8 quarts sphagnum peat moss
• 1 quart perlite
• 1 quart vermiculite

 How to Sterilize your Homemade Potting Mixes:

Heat the Oven to 250 Degrees, place the soil in a shallow container and bake approx. 20-30 minutes to kill bug eggs, weed seeds, and fungi. (This process also kills healthy bacteria as well!)
