When a company does the right thing

This morning, my trash collector, for some strange reason, thought he'd take my daughter's tricycle and crush it in his truck. It wasn't near the trash receptical or anything, but rather in my driveway.
She was heartbroken.
I sent an email in to the corporate office right away, letting them know, calmly and rationally, what happened, and what I'd like to see them do in return. I would have called my local office, but my phone battery was dead, and I was waiting to charge it.
I got a call within an hour. The man I spoke to said the local route supervisor was on his way to meet the truck and see if he could retrieve the trike. Then he'd stop by my house. IN PERSON.
Within fifteen minutes, he arrived at my house, apologetic and kind and helpful. He asked us about my kiddo's trike, and went off to see if he could find her a new one.
He returned an hour or so later, with $60 in gift cards in his hand, because he had been unable to locate the specific one she had.
She's thrilled. I'm majorly impressed. It's not often you hear about companies owning up to wrong-doings without hesitation and going out of their way to right a wrong.
So, I say Bravo to Waste Connections. I am one satisfied customer.
