Well went to Walmart this evening. DH had to purchase a battery for his car. So I thought I'd go with him. Went into the store while he was purchasing his battery. Basically just browsing and doing what the good doc. suggested-- walking.

Well to get to the point -- what did I hear over the inter com was Christmas music. Yes Christmas music on 11/04/08 (And Thanksgiving isn't even here yet).. Don't get me wrong here --I love Christmas music. And I love the holiday season. But in all my time that I spent in retail (over 21 years). I never heard the music, in the store till the day after Thanksgiving. Talk about speeding things up.. I don't believe, I'll have to go back to Walmart until after Thanksgiving now...I guess for some it's ok for the music to start now. But I realize now that I have another tradition ---no music till the day after Thanksgiving please..... To me Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the Holiday Season--that continues thur Christmas and New Years Day.

I'm telling ya those retailers are trying earlier and earlier. Sad to think that a holiday to give thanks for what you do have is overlooked for the holiday that you buy buy buy.

That's okay, when I was at walmart on Halloween Morning, they were playing Christmas songs, on Halloween!! Oy- what is WRONG with people, lol!

Speaking of Thanksgiving music, have you heard Adam Sandlers' Thanksgiving Song? It's a riot, super cute thanksgiving tunes.

Makes me want to boycott spending any money at Walmart!! I was watching TV this morning before heading to work and low and behold what did I see?? Toys R Us had a commercial to get 50% off of toys for CHRISTMAS!! They were even playing Christmas music in the back ground!! Even when all the commericals and music start to play after Thanksgiving...I am tired of hearing it by Christmas...now this is really blowing things outta the water!! What are we to do? Avoid it is all I can think of, but thats going to be difficult....

My daughters are performing in the children's choir at church for Christmastime. The choir is putting on three concerts for the public. They started practicing a month ago, so I have had to listen to and help the kids memorize Christmas songs since the beginning of October. It really takes away the fun of the songs when you have to drill them into your brain starting in October.

The $ store has all their Christmas stuff up as of Halloween. We went in there looking for a pair of gloves and were accosted by rows of Christmas stuff.

Another WalMart beef: They are inundating their Christmas area (right near the pets and health & beauty) with this awful, strong, artificial cinnamon smell that makes it hard to breathe.
