Lately while browsing the internet it seems we've entered the era of no Privacy, no decency and no respect. This morning I was perusing my facebook feed and came across photographs taken at a funeral, of the deceased in his casket. The photo exhibited several family members standing over the deceased, in tears. Why, pray tell, would anyone think this was a good photo to share with the world? The photograph was posted by a young twenty-something who wanted to document her loss on facebook.
My first thought was, This kid doesn't have a clue. But.. it's not just her. Social networking has opened a floodgate of intimate details of peoples lives, who seemingly have no regard for personal or family privacy.
This past week in my feeds I've seen ultrasounds (not just the photo, pictures of people AT the doctors office, complete with the gel on their bellies..) I mean seriously, have we slipped so far as a society that we cannot appreciate that some things should remain private?
It makes me wonder, what does the average person consider to be Private these days?? Am I just old school and behind the times?
In my generation a persons sex life, their medical history, pregnancy appointments/birthing, and funerals were definitely not topics to share with Millions of people around the world, let alone detailed photographs of these things.
