Rattlesnake Shake!

When our boys were little it seemed like time just flew by, but nothing like it does now. There are so few hours in the day it seems and I constantly find myself with an ever-growing bucket list of things to accomplish! This past weekend dh worked throughout the weekend to fit a customers hectic schedule and when we were on our way to drop off her key, I thought I'd call just to let her know we'd be there in a few minutes. When she answered, she was in a panic, her voice was shakey, I could tell she was trembling and I asked her what was wrong- she said there was a snake in her house, she was on her cell phone and basically locked in one room because she was afraid of it. I told her not to worry, we'd be there in just a few minutes and that we'd catch it. She said she thought it was black and she didn't know what kind it was. So when dh and I arrived, we went into the house through the side door, calling her name. She didn't want to come out, and then I saw it. A three and half foot long snake slithering across the white carpet directly towards us. I moved toward it with a broom handle and it struck at the handle. We used a broom handle to pin it's head down and that's when it began to rattle it's tail in warning and for the first time we both took our eyes of it's head and realized it's rather large rattle on it's behind.

Needless to say, we took our time gently shoving it into a shoebox that our customer had lying around in her garage and then sealing it closed with tape, but it was a bit unnerving knowing that the treatment for getting bit in our area has a tendency to run about $200,000. Seriously, that was my biggest concern, I told my hubby, don't get bit, we don't want this bill, lol.

I haven't had much of a chance to post new recipes and decoration ideas because I'm in the middle of doing a Kitchen Makeover! So far it's cost a whopping $56 and I can't wait until it's done, of course I'll post Photos and a How-To Tutorial! Well, or it might be a .. what NOT to do, lol, we shall see.

Ds has been filling out college applications and we've been researching scholarships. One thing I've noticed is that if you're not party of SOME type of Minority, you qualify for less than Half of the scholarships out there. I didn't care for that at all, I found it rather frustrating and discriminatory. Wrestling season is underway and with both of our guys in wrestling our evenings will be spent on the road for the next few months traveling between matches and tournies. Hopefully we'll have some new recipes for "How to Feed a Team!"

Wowza, I certainly would have changed my mind about helping if It went from being a garden snake to a rattlesnake, lol. I can't decide if you're a courageous woman or a crazy woman, but after reading several of your blogs I suspect it's a bit of both
