ID:	7192 For the last couple of months I've been working on a new series of National Holidays. I thought it would be fun to add a little bit about each "holiday"... but what I am learning is, some people will celebrate ANYTHING! Today is one of THOSE days ... it's National Caviar Day. Seriously, do we as a nation really Eat enough caviar to declare it a National US Holiday? In case you're wondering what Caviar is, it's processed and salted fish roe, aka Fish eggs. Caviar berries (as they're called) range in size and color, lucidity and uniformity; They can be soft or semi-crunchy.

Believe it or not, it used to be relatively inexpensive and was served in bars, much like peanuts are served now. The saltiness only encouraged the customers to drink even more. Boy, those must have been the days. Back in his day Pablo Picasso loved caviar and he paid for it in cash, enveloped in a signed original sketch.

I can't remember the last time I dined on caviar with my swanky middle class budget... oh wait, Yes, YES I CAN Remember!!! It was... NEVER! That's right folks, I've never had caviar and maybe this sounds bad, but the last time I purchased Fish eggs, they were in a little jar labeled "BAIT".

So, I apologize in advance if I'm not very sophisticated, in the words of Paula dean, "I is what I is."

*shudder* In any case, we'd like to wish you a Happy National Caviar Day
