A quiet moment

I've been traveling in a daze lately. Not quite pulling it all together. Yesterday I went to take my daughter to work and as we headed down the hill to leave our farm we stopped to watch the fog rolling across our fields by the creek. It was so lovely to watch. DH let me know last night that I had forgotten to fix dinner. Poor thing! I did fix him a grilled cheese just before I took my daughter to work and he could of fixed himself another or a bowl of soup. I normally put on a big spread and just didn't feel like eating at all yesterday and was busy on a project so left my family to fend for themselves. Dh claims I hadn't feed the family for 3 days but luckily one of the kids was there and quickly enlightened Dad on what we had eaten each day and told him to grow up and fix his own food if he's hungry. Poor DH, he's been gone for most of most of 8 years and we've changed. We've had to work so hard together to carry the load while he's been gone and I guess we'll all have some adjusting to do. He was suppose to be headed back out but his funding got cut so it's not looking good for that pay check to carry us on through until August when he retires. I know he's grumpy right now because he's worried about it all but some how we'll make it, we always do. In the meantime might as well lean back and enjoy life. And yes poor DH will be feed today. I started my very slow cooking spaghetti sauce late last night and made a couple pies and then this morning made a batch of French Bread. Guess I'll do Omelets and toast for breakfast. Hope our moods lighten up this week! And sure hope DH learns how to slow down and smell the roses along the way! Worrying doesn't help. I hope he can learn how to walk in faith just like we did these last 8 years. Have a lovely week and stop to enjoy your corner of this beautiful world we live in!

    that's too funny!

As for the rest, it sounds like your family has a lot of adjusting to do. When dh left to work for weeks on end over the last few years I found myself often shocked at how well the kids & I did with our established routines. When he'd get home, it was always a big adjustment.

He just needs a little time to get settled back in (and for Pete's sake women, FEED the man, lol ) - I'm definitely KIDDING.
