Got most of the basement insulated and will take tomorrow off to get the mowing done for this week. Got to run my daughters over to Maryville in the morning. Last summer I gave them their birth certificate & SS cards and guess what they can't find now! They both got jobs this week, one at Dairy Queen and the other at Sonic and of course they need them and we've looked for 2 days and they can't be found. It's easier to drive 50 miles over to Maryville to get new cards ordered and go shell out the $30 for new birth certificates at the health dept. Glad they both got hired but sure going to miss their help around here! Still have 4 drawers full of plums in the fridges. Got to find time to finish up the plum jam and plum butter. As fast as they are eating the plum butter I better make mostly that!
Pulled the last of the Spring green beans today so we'll be able to eat fresh green beans for the rest of the week. The Fall green beans we planted last month are looking great so we should be able to can several more quarts up for this winter and have more to eat fresh later this season.
The guys have the water room enclosed , the bathroom , both bedrooms and the dry pack canning room wall boarded now and ready to start in the home theater tomorrow now that I got it insulated (sound proofing for the most part) Hubby was suppose to of worked for the rest of the month but they got $$ to pay him but no $$ for his hotel room. He let them know they pay for the hotel or he isn't coming. He figures if he does and drives the 200 miles back and forth this time then they will expect him to all the time and he's probably right! He's getting a lot done in the basement so just as glad that he's home even if we have to watch our penny's this month.
We are living off of our food storage completely this month and hoping we will have enough to cover us this month. In October he'll go back on active duty until next August when he retires so we'll tighten our budget and enjoy what time we can have together. If worse comes to worse we have the titles to our paid off 2007 & 2008 cars that we could take a short term loan on to get us by but thinking we'll make it one way or the other!
We've enjoyed walks and laughing about the times we were really broke and head over heels in debt. Now we're debt free only utilities and house payments are paid a year ahead and we have a years supply of food so we can semi coast through the month if we just watch what we are doing. Mixing dry milk in with the fresh milk and getting little bits from the garden helps things along. Before we know it winter will be here and my husband will be gone so we'll be holding the fort down all alone again. So grateful this deployment is stateside this time! And it's the last one! Life is good even with little ups and downs.
May you be blessed with joy& peace in your life!
