Substitute beans/lentils in recipes
Today I made a box of hamburger helper according to directions but added 1 cup of cooked lentils to it instead of hamburger....tasted great & was very filling & I have leftovers for dinner tomorrow. I bought a 1 lb bag of lentils the other day for 45 cents.
I made a box of Zatarain's Dirty rice & substituted a can of pinto beans instead of meat & it also turned out delicious.
I've also mixed canned/rinsed garbanzos or navy beans with a little mayo, celery & pickle relish for a yummy "faux" tuna salad!
Beans/legumes are SO cheap & full of nutrition....switch 'em a few times a week for meat & watch your grocery bills go down!
